    You leave out the key bit, they were both on the same label, and VU felt they were being deprived resources Zappa was getting. I think a VU album was even delayed to accommodate a Zappa release.

    Frank was only stating the obvious! Lou Reed's Band did Suck! 🙃 Only thing that made Lou Reed Famous was being in the News! His Song walk on the wild side was the only song that was good enough to be on radio! Zappa was never on the radio!

    The vocals are so strange in the first song because they're actually sung by a different person. It's Speedy Keen, not Roger. Roger does sing background vocals, however.

    My favorites are the Wall & Final Cut: The Wall: I love the wall because I grew up listening to it like even before I knew how to read, my parents played it a lot around the house and in the car. Also I love the story of the wall every time I hear the album or watch the movie I feel connected with the main character as if it was me going through the same thing in a few hours lol and I love that feeling i get from it! The Final Cut: makes me feel like an aftermath of the wall even though most of the album is backstories and political statements it feels like a continuation of the wall and I remember discovering the album when I was starting college living on my own (all though I heard of it before because I already knew “The Final Cut” & “Two Suns In The Sunset”) but having discovered all the songs from this album playing a lot throughout the winter and fall gave it amazing vibes, definitely made the year feel a lot better having discovered it

    John Kay of Steppenwolf also had this look very early on. I don't know the reason how come John is always overlooked.

    lou reed couldnt hold zappas guitar pick. i grew out of lou reed in 1976 he didnt do anything he floated on two songs, wild side and sweet jane. Both are forgetable with horrible grade school level lyrics and musicians with as much talent as a deaf second grader. Im gonna go wipe the excrement off my ass with transformer.

    Not sure if it's really a comeback album, but David Bowie's The Next Day came out 10 years after his previous album Reality, and is a really good album.

    Interesting, listening to Beggars Banquet in the past, I always thought that The Stones must have been influenced by The VU. It's great to get the confirmation

    now we know the truth. playing the guitar is about as nuanced as swinging a bat. its overblown sports. there is no genius in twiddling your fingers, that action is better left to pleasing women! there is nothing respectable about being capable of playing any instrument. no more than there is anything respectable regarding how high you can jump. culture isnt supposed to be so feeble and worthless, as to try and outdo any aspect of itself. any drama between clowns on stage, is just pathetic. yes guys, the rockstars were feeble losers... they were only heard because they sold out enough. there are a few who fought a bit... but even they had their allies. it doesnt happen alone. one name cant carry more than 10 people. jesus only carried 12

    If you're specifically aiming at 20mins+, I'd pick 'The Revealing', 'The Remembering' and 'Ritual' by Yes, 'Cassandra Gemini' from The Mars Volta, and speaking of Mr. Wilson, 'The Sky Moves Sideways (Phases I+ II). All brilliant. 😉

    I don't know that many albums from 1970, but here goes 1. Fôrça bruta - great tunes with some real driving force behind them, I love the way Jorge Ben plays guitar 2. Foi Um Rio Que Passou Em Minha Vida - super memorable samba songs, great atmospheric intrumentation that surrounds you from all sides 3. Stone Flower - great bossa nova tracks with great arrangements 4. Loaded - a bunch of catchy songs 5. Ptah El Daoud - jazz album with a very dark atmosphere Albums that I don't know enough but might be better than some of the above: Let It Be, Exuma, Curtis

  • @HPPrintervx4p5q

    1. Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band - you have to listen the whole thing for the best experience 2. Magical Mystery Tour - more Beatles, fuck it. The individual songs are some of the best in their catalogue 3. Duke Ellingtion's Far East Suite - one of the most interesting big band records ever 4. The Doors - cool nocturnal atmosphere, gotta love Jim Morrision 5. Are You Experienced - their most conventional album, which I like, quite long with a lot of quality songs

  • @HPPrintervx4p5q
    @HPPrintervx4p5q 7 днів тому

    1. Revolver - gotta have the Beatles, lots of variety and it's all quality, except possibly doctor robert, which is a little boring 2. Chico Buarqur de Hollandia - a bunch of well written song with very memorable melodies 3. Os afro-sambas de Baden e Vinicius - amazing atmosphere and super catchy 4. Blonde On Blonde - still prefer highway 61 revisited 5. Pet Sounds - golden atmosphere with the baroque instrumentation, and the vocal harmonies are really good

  • @HPPrintervx4p5q
    @HPPrintervx4p5q 7 днів тому

    1. Rubber Soul - first amazing beatles album and in some ways the best one 2. Highway 61 Revisited - Bob Dylan at his best 3. Bringing It All Back Home - Bob Dylan again, fuck it 4. Coisas (Moacir Santos) - great set of compositions, brazilian big band, with a relaxed pace 5. Juju (Wayne Shorter) - I'm not as fond of jazz as I once was, but this album still hits

  • @HPPrintervx4p5q
    @HPPrintervx4p5q 8 днів тому

    1. Head hunters - One of the firts jazz-funk albums, and one of the best 2. Gentleman - Fela Kuti always has the best rhythm sections, it's aggressive and cathcy 3. João Gilberto - stripped down bossa nova, almost hypnotic sounding 4. Os Tincoãs - well done three part vocal harmonies, almost reminds me of the beatles that way. 5. Catch a Fire - Mostly for the vibes Might change, I don't have much experience with soul

  • @HPPrintervx4p5q
    @HPPrintervx4p5q 8 днів тому

    It's pretty fun to think about something like this 1. The Beatles - gotta have the Beatles 2. Caetani Veloso - probably my favorite of the year, I love the instrumentation 3. Os Mutantes - kind of quirky, but all of the songs are super catchy 4. Chico Buarque de Hollanda vol. 3 - A collection of beautiful well written songs 5. Edit: Grande Liquidaçao - Tom Zé's second best also I'm not Brazilian and I don't really know portuguese

  • @HPPrintervx4p5q
    @HPPrintervx4p5q 8 днів тому

    In no particular order 1. Abbey road - an obvious pick 2. Gal Costa - great that you mentioned it, very cathcy tunes, well sung, great instrumentation 3. Jorge Ben - one of his best, sounds like you're in the rainforest 4. The Band - has a rustic atmosphere that I haven't heard replicated in any other record, with some very catchy and some absolutely beautiful songs. 5. Moondog - there were many options for this spot, but I'm most likely to relisten this one.

    You're insane for little wing and which will. For both of these the covers are way more basic than the originals, like covers almost always are. Shallow reinterpretation without much thought behind them.

  • @HPPrintervx4p5q
    @HPPrintervx4p5q 8 днів тому

    They're just not close. The best thing to listen to if you love rubber soul is just more beatles. Sure the aesthetic is similar, but the songwriting style and character is completely different, and feels way more generic with these other bands.
